Hometown
Grew up in Plymouth, Devon, currently living in Bristol...... South West kid!
When did you start the sport, how and with who?
Started kayaking at age 13 through school club then progressed and was taken under the wing of South west legends Andy Round, Pete Vickers, Patch, Eddy Cornfield, Bill, Spencer, Tim & Mark Harvey to name a few who took me out at weekends from age 15 to local rivers & beaches.
Most memorable moment in your sport?
The first trip to White Nile in 2004 with the Young Gun guys was epic. One of my favourite places to paddle. Returned there last year for 3 months and had a sick time hanging out with the Kiwi boys, Thatcher, Tyler & Walker. Big wave surfing all day, then chilled Nile special beers riding in the back of the truck on the way home watching the amazing African sunset - happy days! Because my father is from New Zealand i also have a soft spot for NZ. The worlds there in 1999 was an incredible event.
What is your favourite piece of Nookie kit?
Playmonster BA - its so streamlined you barely feel like you are wearing a BA, yet are assured of the high calibre safety you come to expect from Nookie products. It looks slick...... especially when hero-boating (in just a BA) ha! ha! Which is a bonus! - Bring back the Playmonster!
What are your ambitions?
Qualify as a Lawyer and in time progress and work in the field of commercial sports law. Kayaking wise, i'm keen to go to the Zambezi next year, return to NZ,Cali and Nepal. For a surf trip i would definately like to return to Indo and Costa Rica soon..... the wish list of places to travel to just grows!
Advice for others?
Its an amazing sport that will take you to incredible places round the world you never dreamed of. Just have fun and no matter what level & how often you get on the water, enjoy all the learning along the way. The kayaking community around the world is incredibly generous - mate i met in Uganda leant me his Suburu for 3 months when i came to NZ this year!
